The Sun is in the house of service in Virgo, making it a perfectionist. Their key phrase is, “I ANALYZE”. Quiet Virgo can surprise you the day the boss is out by their vast knowledge and capable nature. With their analytical mind, they are drawn to science, medicine and computers - all run by logic.

Known for their patience, they make hardworking nurses--but may lack warmth. Perhaps Virgos wouldn’t be so “picky”, if they didn’t do so much picking up after others. Their symbol is the virgin lying on her side with a sheath of grain in her hand. The virgin stands for purity and the sheath of wheat is wisdom gleaned from experience.

Virgo of the Month: Michael Jackson

Michael Joseph Jackson was born on August 29, 1958 at 7:33 p.m. in Gary, Indiana. The eighth child of the Jackson family, he was the youngest member of the Jackson 5. With the Moon (mother) in difficult aspect to Saturn (father), his parents eventually separated. Jackson also moved away from the family. In 1971 he started his solo career. The “King of Pop had his Sun in Virgo in the 6th house of work. The singer was both talented and hard-working. With both Mercury (voice) and Venus (love) joining the dynamic planet Uranus in the musical sign of Leo,he loved to entertain. He pioneered complicated dance movements such as “Moon Walk” and created memorable videos such as “Thriller.”

However there were two sides to Michael Jackson’s personality — the entertainer and the recluse. He was born during a full Moon in Pisces—a most sensitive and psychic sign. At times his Pisces Moon craved a fantasy world. At other times his hard working and critical Sun in Virgo made the singer constantly work on his music and himself to perfect his image.

With Saturn (karma) in the 10th house of career, his fame came at a price. As much as he would have liked, he could never escape his worldly obligations. The more he sought to break free from the harsh realities of life, the more he became caught up in contracts and obligations. In the end, unable to sleep after practice sessions, he turned to drugs for relief. His death June 25, 2009 left his three children without their beloved father — and a legion of fans shaking their heads in disbelief.

Could an astrologer have predicted Jackson’s early death? Probably not. While Michael Jackson was under a great deal of pressure — the transits did not indicate death.

Perhaps that is because his Venus (love) in Aquarius (sign of the masses) makes a trine to dynamic Uranus. The people born between February 19 and March 20 have the zodiac sign of Pisces. Those born under this sign are sensitive, compassionate, and artistic in nature. They enjoy spending time near the water—be it ocean or pool. Pisces husbands are romantic and Pisces ladies instill a sense of optimism in those they love. Sometimes it is difficult for sensitive Pisceans to make decisions. While they inspire confidence in others, Pisces people are often modest about their own achievements.

Pisces of the Month: Edgar Cayce

Edgar Cayce was born on March 18, 1877. He was an American trance medium who answered questions on healing, astrology, reincarnation, Atlantis, and future events. During his lifetime, “the Sleeping Prophet” gave approximately 30,000 life-readings and medical diagnosis to people. He believed that astrology was a fact and that it is useful in understanding the road map of one's life. According to Edgar Cayce, the placement of the planets indicated past-life influences and planetary journeys.

Cayce’s sun in the mystical sign of Pisces in the eighth house of the occult definitely indicated a psychic nature. The Sun sextiling Pluto in Taurus in the tenth house of career showed he would be recognized for this unique talent. His Moon in Taurus gave him an easy-going nature, unless crossed - then Cayce could show a stubborn streak. His Moon conjunct Neptune in the ninth house of the higher mind and dreams gave him access to the world beyond through the trance state. Cayce’s chart is not without its flaws. His moon in Taurus makes a wide square to Uranus in the first house indicating a strong will and ego. However, Edgar Cayce worked hard to maintain a spiritual perspective. Disciplined by nature, he read the Bible each year of his life and placed great faith in his teachings.

The people born between January 20th and February 18th have the zodiac sign of Aquarius. Those born under this zodiac sign are intelligent, original, and independent. The United States has had three Aquarian presidents: Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809), Franklin Delano Roosevelt (January 30, 1882), and Ronald Reagan (February 6, 1911). All made significant contributions to our country. Lincoln brought the country through the Civil War; and F.D.R. brought the United States through World War II. Reagan is credited with decentralizing government. Of the three presidents, Lincoln is the most respected for his humility, honesty, and humanitarian policies.

Aquarius of the Month: Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln was born February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. He became a lawyer and a politician who served as the 16th president of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in April 1865. His Sun in Aquarius gave him an idealist nature, yet his Moon in practical Capricorn helped him to keep his feet on the ground. With his Moon (emotions) in Capricorn, he was prone to bouts of depression. Fortunately, he had Mars (energy) in the sign of the law, Libra, which indicates a passion for justice. However with a square to his Moon, justice would come at a great price.

Born with Mercury in the gentle sign of Pisces, he was kind and had a sense of humor. As Lincoln reminded us, “Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.” Lincoln also had a psychic side. Shortly before his death, he had dream in which there was a body lying in state in the White House. He demanded to know who it was. One of the soldiers answered "The President" was his answer; "he was killed by an assassin!"

While deeply affected by the dream, the President did not allow it to interfere with his duties. He was always forward-moving. Abraham Lincoln served during the worst of times in our nation, yet he remained hopeful about the future of the United States. Lincoln never wavered in his faith in people or America: “My dream is of a place and a time where America will once again be seen as the last best hope of earth.”

January Moon Cycles

  • January 5 ~ New Moon 15º Capricorn
  • January 21~ Full Moon 1º Leo

New Moon January 5, 2019~ 15º Capricorn 8:28 p.m. EST
The New Moon on Saturday January 5, 2019 at 15° Capricorn is a partial solar eclipse. It aligns with the fixed star Vega, which could increase idealism—especially as more sexual scandals come to light.

The solar eclipse conjunct Saturn dampens the mood of the nation. It is poor time for negotiations as this Saturn aspect is opposite the sun (leadership) in the horoscope of the United States. Unless President Trump is more flexible, the government shut-down could drag on. Eventually a Republicans of good will step forward to negotiate with Democratic colleagues, as Neptune eases the cold nature of Saturn and brings some insight.

On a personal level, use this energy to clear out clutter, organize finances, and keep active. In general, January is a good month for starting new health habits. Start the five, three, one habit. Meditate for five minutes a day, give gratitude for three blessings and do one good deed.

Full Moon January 21~ 1° Leo at 12:17 A.M. EST
The full Moon in Leo place the emphasis on matters of the heart-- romance, children, and the arts. This Full Moon is especially strong as there is a total Lunar Eclipse. It may be a time to reevaluate relationships and finances. Since the Moon makes a jittery aspect to Uranus, the stock market reacts quickly in the next two weeks. At the same time, Venus makes a negative aspect to Neptune which brings confusion to the market place.

This is the final eclipse falling on the Leo and Aquarius axis, people feel in need for change. The next time eclipses fall along this axis will be 2026-2028.

One a personal note, use common sense with credit cards and valuables. Focus on making small changes in your environment and health routines. With Venus in Sagittarius conjunct Jupiter, everyone seems to have cabin fever. Fortunately Mars makes a good aspect to Venus and Jupiter during this period—socialize, travel, and keep moving.
