December Moon Cycles

December 14 The new Moon 23° 08′ Sagittarius at 11:16 a.m. EST. The Moon in Sagittarius usually favors travel and the holiday events. However, these will be curtained by the solar eclipse and the Coronavirus. With the Solar eclipse close to Mercury the focus remains on communications and adaptability. Expect an increase in social interaction and education via the internet. On a positive note, the energy planet Mars is in good aspect to the Moon which rules the home, so this is a good eclipse to tackle new projects and home-improvement.

At the same time, the solar eclipse square to Neptune may increase the Coronavirus pandemic. Be safe, social distance and wear a mask. While health experts are optimistic regarding a vaccine; it is unlikely to be available until spring.

December 21 marks the winter solstice, the lowest and darkness day of the year. More significantly, the Jupiter conjunction with Saturn will take place this day at 0 Aquarius. Jupiter is called the greater benefic while Saturn is the greater malefic. This planetary pairing known as the Great Conjunction occurs approximately every 20 years.

This is the start of a new cycle. Technology, communications, and space exploration will be favored during the next two decades. In politics the division between the progressives versus the conservatives will continue. With a new President, watch for a massive stimulus package and reforms in health care and education.

December 29Full moon 8° 53′ Cancer at 8:29 p.m. EST Native Americans called the last full Moon of the year the Long Nights Moon because it is the longest night of the year. The full Moon in Cancer favors family, culinary arts, and the home environment.

With the Sun in Capricorn making a good aspect to Uranus, people are also interested in friendship, new ideas and novel technology. Look to the New Year and let go of outdated things. With Venus in Sagittarius (sign of law and travel) conjunct the realistic south node, travel plans may have to be downsized. Stressful aspects to Neptune create emotional concerns and financial pinches as the year ends in a lock-down mode.

On a personal note: Remain realistic. With Mars square Pluto, everyone needs to slow down. This is not the time to take on a new project. Instead, use the last days of 2020 to enjoy home pursuits. Try a new recipe, update your family photo album, or organize your home office.

Sun in Capricorn December 22-January 19

The Sun is at its zenith in the natural zodiac in the sign of Capricorn. This earth sign seeks recognition and status. Career is important to both males and females. Serious, hard-working, and thorough, they have natural executive ability. They may even schedule vacations around work. They need to worry less about details and learn to relax between assignments if they want to enjoy their trip to the top. Like their symbol, the sea-goat, they may take three steps forward and two steps back in life. However, they will succeed because of their focused energy where many others give up. They usually thrive on hard work and will stay with challenges. Their key phrase is, I USE. As they age, they may learn to lighten up. Born with old heads on young shoulders, they are one sign that may seem to grow younger.

FAMOUS CAPRICORN FEMALES: Kate Moss, Kate Middleton, Mary Tyler Moore, Janis Joplin, Joan Baez, Erin Gray, Dolly Parton, Diane Sawyer, Loretta Young. Marlene Dietrich, and Maggie Smith.

NOTED CAPRICORN MALES: Bradley Cooper, Nicolas Cage, Elvis Presley, Jeff Bezos, Denzel Washington, Woodrow Wilson, J. Edgar Hoover, Pablo Casals, Albert Schweitzer, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Paramanhansa Yogananda

One thing about Capricorns is they like to work. Perhaps there is no better example of this than British actress Maggie Smith born December 28, 1934 in England. She has her Sun in the sign of longevity, Capricorn, and her Moon in the lady-like sign of Virgo. Dame Maggie Smith can be kind and considerate of others. However with Mars in Virgo as well, she is a perfectionist when it comes to work which may account for her six decade acting career.

Maggie Smith is a natural actress with her Sun in Capricorn making a most favorable aspect to Neptune. She came to America’s attention when she won the 1969 Oscar for Best Actress in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Later, she played the strict witchcraft teacher Minerva McGonagall in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001). More recently she won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in for Downton Abbey (2010).

It would seem that she was born to play the role of Violet Crawley. Twice married with two grown sons, Maggie Smith is a widow like her character on Downton Abbey. Not unlike the Countess, the actress has managed to remain a scene-stealer — even in her 80s!

There are two traits that hold them back — jealousy and control. Scorpios need to “let go, and let God” to be successful in both their professional and personal lives. Like their symbol the Scorpion, they can sting and be a bitter enemy. However, the wise Scorpio will hold back his sarcasm and concentrate on the details at hand. They often are called on to manage other people’s resources and can be successful in banking, insurance and corporate life. Their hunches usually pay off. They make shrewd investors and seldom die poor.

Scorpio of the Month: President Theodore Roosevelt

When Theodore Roosevelt served as President from 1901-1901, he kept his horoscope mounted on a chess board in the Oval Office. The President explained to visitors, “I always keep my weather eye on the opposition of my seventh house Moon to my first house Mars.”

This dynamic President was born October 27, 1958 into a wealthy New York family. This is indicated in his natal chart by the Moon in Cancer trine the spiritual planet Neptune in Pisces. He was also fortunate to have planet of wealth, Jupiter, on his ascendant. Roosevelt had the strong will of a Scorpio, but maintained varied interested of Gemini ascendant — politics, history, exploration writing, as well as being a “rough rider.”

September Moon Cycles

September 2 — The full Moon in Pisces can be a time for new ideas with the Moon in good aspect to Uranus. The emphasis is also on romance, relationships, and dreams. Everyone will wish to express their opionion — some logically, others more dramatically. With Venus square Mars and Venus opposite Saturn, the public may feel on edge September 1-5, as emotions peak during the full Moon.

Many feel financially strapped as the energy planet Mars squares Saturn (limitation) on and off from August 15 to October 9. People can’t help but feel some frustration due to coronavirus restrictions. This could bring discord to relationships which now require more attention. Try to be clear in communication and be aware of dynamics of relationships around you. Better yet, take some time for yourself — creative persuits, a good book, or afternoon nap!

September 17 — The new moon in Virgo emphasizes health, organization, and work. The Moon may not be happy in critical Virgo, but it does promote a work ethic. A few may choose to complain, but there is work to be done — just take it one day at a time. If you are feeling uptight, channel nervous energy into cleaning, organizing or a stroll in the park!

Sun in Libra — August 22-September 23

Libras are relationship oriented and enjoy an active social life. They have respect for the law and a desire to please others. Their native intelligence helps them to succeed in life. However, they have long memories and may stuff their feelings. When angry, they are apt to bring up a long laundry list of past complaints.

Often they have a taste for the sweet things of life—the arts, fashion, and, of course, dessert! While Libras love an orderly environment, they dislike all the scrubbing and cleaning it requires. To its credit, Libra more than any sign strives to make the world a more beautiful and peaceful place.

Sadly, his life was cut short on December 8, 1980 when he was murdered outside the Dakota, his apartment building on Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Lennon may have had a brief life, but a prolific one. He had his Sun in Libra, a sign of relationships and the arts. His Moon was in the humanitarian sign of Aquarius. With a Libra ascendant, he enjoyed music, art, and intellectual pursuits. Venus the ruler of his horoscope was in the perfectionist sign of Virgo. His Sun in the twelth house also indicated a need for privacy. In his last years, he chose to be a “hands on” father to his son Sean. Perhaps he sensed that they would have few years together.

Known for their patience, they make hard-working doctors and nurses — but may lack warmth. Perhaps Virgos wouldn’t be so “picky”, if they didn’t do so much picking up after others.

Their symbol is the virgin lying on her side with a sheath of grain in her hand. The virgin stands for purity and the sheath of wheat is wisdom gleaned from experience. Virgos are very discriminating in romance and may marry later. True to their symbol, they value hard work and may have a tendency to overwork. Ruled by Mercury, they enjoy pursuits of the mind. With hisl Sun in the hard working sign of Virgo and his Moon is in the artistic sign of Pisces, he had two sides to his personality.. Since he was born under a full Moon, he was bound to attaract attention. The Moon (emotions) was square to Saturn which indicated early childhood stresses. He never felt loved by his father who was a stict disciplinarian. With Venus making a positve aspect to Saturn, Jackson worked hard for his success. However Mercury in negarive aspect to Mars, made the entertainer restless. He was also suspectible to rumors of child molestation which were never proven in court.

He was also born with five planets in his sixth house of work—Uranus, Venus, and Mercury in Leo, the sign of the artist and Sun and Pluto in the sign of perfection—Virgo. His life was dominated by a strong creatve drive as well as an obsession with perfecting his appearance. His one character flaw was an over-active mind due to Mars making a square to Mercury. He literally could not shut down his thoughts — even at night. He needed anti-anxiety medication and relied on propofol (an anesthtic) to go to sleep. This lead to cardiac arrest on June 25, 2009. His three children — Paris, Michael Junior, and Prince — lost their devoted father and the world a gifted entertainer. However, if there is a heaven, Michael Jackson is still on stage!

With concerns about the coronavirus, public officials will be on-guard to protect its citizens, Watch for more events to be cancelled. Also with Mars (energy) squaring Mercury (travel), it is not the best time for long-distance trips. Everything will take more time and patience. June Moon Cycles

June 5 — The full Moon in Sagittarius is the first of three consecutive eclipses. It is unusual to have three eclipses in a row. Since eclipses effect nations more than individuals, events that take place in June and July 2020 will have long-lasting effects on our country. With eclipses occurring June 5, June 20 and July 5, discord in major US cities is likely to continue through early August when cooler heads prevail.

When the Moon is in Sagittarius, people are apt to express their opinions openly. Watch for the public to react swiftly and with the Moon in adverse aspect to Mars, tempers flare. This is not a good time to confront others. Try to maintain social and emotional distance. Be patient with yourself and others.

The Moon also makes an opposition to Venus which can make everyone feel a bit lazy. Enjoy the slower pace, but do not put off essential tasks. That said, people will welcome the opportunity to get out this month—even it is just to the grocery store. With four planets—Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Pluto retrograde this month, changes are made slowly. Mercury goes retrograde June 18th until July 12, review all bills carefully, and avoid major purchases such as cars, computers or appliances. If you have to sign a contract, be sure to read the fine print!

June 21 — The new Moon is in Cancer is the official start of summer. Since the Moon rules the home-loving sign of Cancer, it brings out the desire to be closer to family. Now is the time for backyard projects, gardening and family get-togethers. Use the new Moon energy to spruce-up your home, organize books and closets, refurbish the office, or try a new recipe.

Usually this is a busy travel period, however the annual solar eclipse may put a damper no travel due to difficult aspects to Saturn (planet of restriction). People will have to rethink social plans and make adjustments as a cautious attitude prevails. Both coronavirus pandemic and continued unrest in the cities remain on the forefront of everyone’s mind. Continue to maintain social distance and keep aflexible attitude for the next two weeks. Creativity and intuition are heightened with Mars (energy) conjunct Neptune (inspiration). Best advice: dream a little and relax a lot!

Sun in Cancer — June 21 to July 22

FAMOUS CANCER LADIES: Princess Diana, Meryl Streep, Linda Ronstadt, Natalie Wood, Selena Gomez, Kristin Bell, and Lindsay Lohan.

NOTED CANCER MALES: President George W. Bush, Tom Cruise, Kevin Hart, Tom Hanks, Sylvester Stallone, Harrison Ford, and Daniel Radcliffe.

The Sun in its midnight position in Cancer — giving the sign a penchant for seclusion. Its key phrase is “I feel.” Cancers love Mom, home, and apple pie. They collect everything from antiques to kick knacks--and love a bargain!

Ruled by the Moon, Cancers can be moody. Their intuition is strong. If well aspected, they are ahead of the trends. Moon children often like to work in retail or real estate and are good business people. Since Cancer rules the stomach, they are often good cook. Cancer men make the best chefs!

Cancer of the Month: Princess Diana

Princess Diana was born on July 1, 1961 in Norfolk, England. With her Sun in Cancer, she exuded warmth. Diana also had a sparkle with playful Sagittarius as her rising sign. She loved attention! People with a Sagittarius ascendant can also have a serious philosophical side. The princess was known to have an interest in the occult. She felt she may have been a nun in a past life.

Diana was destined to marry well — Sun in the seventh house of marriage making a trine to Neptune in the tenth house of status. This combination also made Diana extremely photogenic. When she married Prince Charles on July 29th, 1981, the wedding was watched by 750 million people worldwide.

With her in Taurus, Diana wanted a traditional marriage focused on a stable family. She was a bit of a romantic — her Venus in the fifth house of romance and children. A “hands-on” mother who believed that “Hugs can do great amounts of good — especially for children.” With her Moon in the emotionally independent sign of Aquarius, Diana was not afraid to break with royal protocol by taking William and Harry to public amusement parks. As Prince Harry commented, she was “the best mum in the world.”

Her Aquarius Moon made her — “the people’s Princess.” Lady Di seemed to be loved by everyone — except Prince Charles. Sadly Venus, the planet of love was square to Uranus, planet of change. While her marriage to Prince Charles ended in divorce, she seemed to be well on her way to a second marriage. According to her astrologer, Debbie Frank, the horoscopes of Dodi Fayed and Diana were compatible.

Two weeks before her untimely death, Debi Frank told Diana, there was an eclipse in her chart. The princess who was very much in love was sure that the eclipse would bring a positive event. Indeed eclipses were turning points in the life of Princess Diana. Her son William was born on an eclipse and her divorce from Prince Charles was announced on a lunar eclipse. Sadly this eclipse foretold another turning point — death. Just after midnight on August 31, 1997, Diana and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed were killed in a Paris tunnel.

Diana’s greatest gift was her charity. Two months before she died, she raised 3.25 million dollars for AIDS from the sale of her elegant and iconic dresses. Soon after her death, an estimated $1 billion in donations poured into the Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Fund.

Her legacy for her William and Harry? “I want my boys to have an understanding of people's emotions, their insecurities, people's distress, and their hopes and dreams.” Princess Diana would be proud of Prince William and Prince Harry who have kept their mother’s spirit alive by supporting her favorite charities.

When people don’t know what to believe, they are more susceptible to fake news. With Mars squaring the Moon, everyone seems impatient. Gemini of the Month: President Donald Trump

President Donald Trump is a Gemini, born June 14, 1946 at 10:54 a.m. in Jamaica NY. His Sun in the versatile sign of Gemini is at the top of the chart in the tenth house of status and leadership. It is next to the dynamic planet Uranus, so he is sure to attract attention wherever he goes. Even more so, because he was also born during a full Moon in Sagittarius, the sign of candor. His noble Leo ascendant gives a fiery disposition. With Mercury (communication) square Neptune (illusion), he can be very sensitive to criticism--however well-intentioned. Quick to respond, his roar may be worse than his bite. His softer side is evident in his Venus (love) in Cancer (family). He truly values family and is generous to those he loves.

Right now the President is under a tremendous amount of stress with the unexpected coronavirus outbreak. Sadly the pressure is not likely to go away any time soon. Astrologically, the transit of Pluto (the planet of pandemics) is opposite his Venus (public affairs) which is next to his Saturn (the planet of responsibility) in 11th house of groups. It seems no matter how he handles the crisis he is criticized. These issues will have to be dealt with on and off through spring of 2021 when a vaccine and better treatment for virus are in place.

Meanwhile the President must watch his own health. Rest, diet, and exercise are needed with some relief by May. However, more stressors to follow mid-June to early July. Any attempts at character assassination will not last long. Lucky Jupiter is on his 7th house ruling the public just in time for the Republican Convention.
